Let Me Play (LMP) is an organisation that works in a wide variety of settings to provide positive activities to young people whether that is through Education or Sport. We are now recruiting for Lead Play Worker to coordinate the delivery of our comprehensive programmes of after school childcare that we provide to primary schools. The role is offered on a part time basis working Monday – Friday directly after school hours. We are looking for a committed individual who can bring experience and knowledge from the childcare sector to contribute to the management of each site as well as our delivery.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • To be responsible for the development and monitoring of a quality Play Curriculum, ensuring staff, children and parents are actively involved in this process.
  • To ensure that the curriculum on offer is designed to meet the intellectual, creative, physical, emotional and social needs of the children attending the provision.
  • To ensure that all work undertaken is systematically planned, recorded and evaluated against agreed objectives.
  • To ensure that Let Me Play’s standards in relation to quality assurance are achieved and that required quality levels continue to be maintained.
  • To effectively manage Play Workers on a day-to-day basis, with authority delegated by the Let Me Play Head Office Management Team.
  • To manage and monitor the everyday practice of service delivery.
  • To be aware of Equal Opportunities issues and ensure policy and practice guidelines are observed.
  • To be responsible for the administration of all resources allocated to the Centre.
  • To maintain records as required in relation to children and staff.
  • Leaders will liaise with key school staff in order to ensure the maintenance of good professional relationships and to facilitate effective site management.

Other Additional Responsibilities will include:

  • Undergoing relevant training as required
  • Keeping in close communication with head office

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE’s
  • Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • Extensive experience in both the management and delivery of childcare
  • Administrative experience coordinating after school programmes in a school environment
  • Experience of working on projects as both an individual and as part of a team
  • Full and up to date DBS Certificate
  • Experience communicating with a variety of management levels both in and out of schools.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Ofsted Requirements in a Childcare setting
  • Professional childcare qualifications (NVQ Level 3), Safeguarding Knowledge/Training
  • Full UK Driving license
  • Paediatric First Aid certificate
  • Food hygiene certificate
  • Practical skills in either arts, crafts, sports, games, music or drama and the ability to apply these skills in Play Work with children.

Work Environment

You shall be based in a Primary School Mon-Fri, approximately between 2.45-6pm. The age groups shall be reflecting of Primary Schools (4-11yrs) looking after groups of between 15- 20 children.

You will occasionally be required to come to the head office in Hammersmith to assist with administrative tasks.

Salary Information

£6,650 pro rata based on working part time (approx. 2.45-6pm, times will vary slightly) for 190 days of the year during school term time.
